1984 “Sword Kill” was an American film released abroad under the name of “Ghost Warrior”
In this slightly off-beat film, a SAMURAI Warrior from the SENGOKU period finds himself suddenly in 20th century Los Angeles after being frozen for 400 years. Playing the lead role in this film gave Fujioka his first taste of participation in international films. Also, he was grateful for the chance to put his own talents for martial arts to use. For his role, he received the Critic’s choice award at the Paris International SF Film Festival in 1985.

Children’s TV drama.
Played Takeshi Hongo who was changed into a kind of Superman by Shocker, a mysterious terrorist organization. He fights against Shocker to save the world peace. Through this role, he became a ‘Super idol’ in an instant, not only in Japan but also throughout the world.

This show marked the first collaboration between Japan and China in a TV program. Fujioka played an intelligence officer sent to China to gather information for the Japanese government.
1981 - ONNA TAIKOUKI NHK -Lead Role-
Fujioka co-starred in a drama set in the SENGOKU period (1580) about conflicts between the famous warlords of the time, he played Nobunaga Oda who was betrayed and murdered by one of his trusted subordinates.
This one of the most sought after roles available in Japanese historical productions. Fujioka’s portrayal was so successful that since then his name comes to mind whenever the name of Nobunaga is mentioned.
1981 - KAIKYO NHK -Lead Role-
Kaikyo means ‘channel’ as in the English Channel between England and France.The setting is the extreme northern part of Japan, in which the main industry is fishing. The problems faced today by these fishermen in Japan forms the underlying theme for the film. The character portrayed by Fujioka has committed a murder many years ago, an in escaping his past he finds himself going north to live among these fishermen and becoming intimately involved in the problems of the area. He also falls in love with one of the women there, delivering an intense portrayal of a character often described as primitive.
1982 - FUTARI NO MUSASHI CX -Lead Role-
This is the story of the famous master swordsman MIYAMOTO MUSASHI as a young man. Musashi was noted for his simplicity of heart and habit, and also for his tendency to pursue a goal wholeheartedly and directly. This role is often compared with that of Toshiro Mifune in Kurosawa Akira’s “The seven Samurai”.

The character portrayed by Fujioka gets transferred to another country, and is unable to take his family along, for example. This is one of Japan’s longest running and most popular television series. It’s continuous high ratings have kept it on the air since 1977. It is a serious police detective drama. Fujioka’s character is a very devoted, intelligent and emotional detective. The emphasis is not on action but on the inter-action among the characters.
